A ways back I posted about still having the "Cingular" alpha tag. I contacted AT&T at the time & was told that it would change in mid-December. I was also advised by a few people to suspend & renew my account, which I tried - to no effect.
Before I go calling AT&T, I'm curious if anyone else has this. I'm using a phone I bought from another carrier that is unlocked. I'm wondering if that is why it is still reading Cingular - perhaps because it reads the alpha tag only from the SIM. Any thoughts?
Peace,
Jacob M.

My wife still has it on hers, but mine updated like four months ago. It really doesn't have any difference whether it says Cingular or ATT.

in all likeleyhood you wont have any problems. you **may** have connectivity issues if you roam off network.to get an update call 611 and ask for a "single push". it will update your PLMN . thats the file stored on the SIM that defines what networks will allow you to roam

I said I sit on international roaming in US. That makes it obvious it's not ATT sim. in pennsylvania, chester county.

in that case its pretty obvious that your sim is not recognizing the ATT network.it most likely needs a PLMN update. if you call your provider they can take care of that
