Here's a tangentical question regarding firmware: is it the firmware that dictates how the phone keys are programmed? I have a T616, if I upgrade the firmware on that, will it wipe out all of the AT&T customizations, or are those on my sim? I want to change the "mmode" key on the upper right hand side of the phone to do something else.

The keys are programmed using hardwired connections on the PCB of the phone. Hence, just updating the firmware will not change the function of the keys.
For removing the AT&T customizations, u can flash ur phone with the standard international firmware (R4C). However, doing this on ur own is very risky and u will probably damage your phone.

This is for everyone who owns a T610/T630/Z600.
The latest firmware that was uploaded on the EMMA SE server is R6C005. R6B004 has been phased out. Hence, the current latest fw versions are R6B021 and R6C005 depending on ur location.
