I have heard all kind of rumors that Tmobile is going to a 3G network, can anyone confirm or deny this rumor? Secondly, I have a Shadow and a SE GC89 network card with the data card internet, anyone know if my phone and data card will be compatible with the 3G network? With a 3G network, I would assume that the data internet would become alot faster to rival the VW internet speeds.

Yes, tmobile is building a 3g network. The current equipment you have will not be able to access the 3g part of the netwok. It is running on newer spectrum called AWS. Very few phones on the current lineup support this spectrum at this time.

UMTS and 3G mean exactly the same thing.

elmo: You mean 3G for GSM.
Techically whatever VZW and Spring do with EV-DO is considered 3G. icon_smile.gif But you're right.

AFAIK the difference between 2.5g and 3g is the ability to dload and talk at the same time.

I dont know (nor do I care)if that is possible on a CDMA device

T-Mobile has just as good of Network as AT&T and even has coverage is places were Verizon and AT&T don't even have coverage. Sprint were not even gonna talk about because someone will buy them out soon. get you facts straight.

Why do you think sprint will be bought out? the iden rights alone they are selling back to the government is going to be a huge revenue boost for sprint. like it or not sprint still has more subscribers than t mobile usa. in fact, t mobile worldwide barely has twice the customer base that sprint does in just the states. that's pretty sad considering t mobile covers most of europe. And As a side note, t mobile's network is nothing compared to att. at least att has some 3g services. t mobile is an economy carrier, like the us cellular of gsm.

the fact that sprint is going to have to sell parts of their network off is funny, especially after you go off on your bashes. and guess who is eying up buying nextel from sprint.
