i just signed up for another 2 years (sigh) and changed to a basic family plan. got a sony ericsson 580i and a nokia 2610

i would like to simplify both the cell phones. most especially the nokia b/c its for my senior mom.

on my old razr, i would accidentally hit the media/internet button or receive random text messages and then get billed for it- annoying.

how do i disable the stuff i don't use? ie: at&t mall, entertainment, text messaging, email, media net.

can customer service do this for me? i didn't see any instructions in the owner's manual.

thanks!

You can call Customer Service and ask that all internet and messages be disabled. This way even if someone accidentally hits a button or application it won't do anything. Not all phones have the ability to shut off or lock apps - this block is tied to your account and will apply to any phone the sim card is in.

I called Customer Service and they said they will lock it out on their end on all phones, the following month the charges continued. Called back and they said it was only locked out on my phone, The following month, more charges. Called back and the rep says the person who handled it didn't input it correctly, she said she'll handle it. Yes, the following month, still more charges. They said they'll have a tech. call me up to discuss what's going on. Still waiting....

ok. there are features specific to the phone number (service level) that can be added to block data and messaging.

from what you are describing there are subscriptions that are autobilling to your acct... do you see anything on your bill in the communications download section?
