So.my Chocolate got wet while I was kayaking yesterday. And it won't turn on while its not plugged in to a charger. But when it does turn on, it either says sue genuine battery, or it thinks its too hot and shuts off. I assume I've wrecked my phone beyond all repair, but I was hopinh someone would have a remedy for me. Any suggestions?
(barring that my phone is gone, does anyone have good verizon phone suggestions/ a good phone that can easily be unlcoked?)

Water damage is usually irreversible once it's that bad. Hopefully you have insurance, or an older phone. If you want to purchase a phone (not at full retail, like ebay or personal sale) you'll want to call customer service and ensure the phone you're about to buy isn't locked for one reason or another. The ESN or MEID is on the back of the phone, that's what the customer service needs to check the status of the phone. Unlocking phones doesn't work as easily with VZW service like the GSM phones out there.

If the phone was water damaged they won't replace it for you.
Water damage is the worst damage a phone can receive next to being shattered into a million pieces.
When water enters the phone it short circuits. Sometimes this is reversable by removing the battery and letting the phone completely dry out. But water damage not only does this but it can also corrode metal pieces. So even if it is dried out the innerds of your phone will continue to corrode. So you may think your phone is fine only to find that 5 months later your phone is toast.
