A friend can not use JAVA apps. on their Nokia 6030. They have a wap browser, with Unicel service. She can download, it just won't run. :What could be wrong?
Who is Unicel affiliated with?

I'm not familiar with the service, but most if not all CDMA phones will not run JAVA apps, but would work with something called BREW instead. I'll do a little research to see if I can figure out what signal style Unicel works off of.

Okay, Unicel runs off of CDMA, GSM, TDMA, and AMPS depending on the area. It's possible that you got a GSM program but have a CDMA phone. At any rate, it appears likely that Unicel is going to be purchased by Verizon wireless. At that time you'll get a letter in the mail, stating how much of a deposit that Verizon wants, signing you to a new two year contract, likely with a new phone as well. Depending on where you are at, Verizon also has plans to trade parts of the GSM acquisition to At&t for parts of CDMA towers that At&t has acquired recently. Sounds like fun.

Unicel has already been bought by VWZ. "deal to go through early 2008". Well, I guess she's out of luck. I had Opera Mini on my 6030, but I'm with AT&T. Bummer. Thanks.

Yeah, if she already has a CDMA model phone JAVA apps will not work, she'll have to try and locate a BREW alternative.
