I don't want to say a lot. I would say a few are out for the money only. As a salesperson I won't paint a picture that shows a lot of salespeople as heartless money mongering people. But there are bad eggs among them as there are bad eggs among all professions, because it is not the profession or the people that choose it, but the people who're going to be that way no matter what they do. It still doesn't change the extreme suckage of the situation.
Good Post! There Are Good Eggs Out There Too Though. I'm Thinking Of Opening My Own Third Party Retailer.

I would say that the majority out there are good eggs. Good luck on that if you do. So do you go for the higher commissions of an exclusive, or do you not have all your eggs in one basket and carry multiple?

That wouldn't just be a pain, it wouldn't be worth it, not for cost difference between one and four dba's.

I found out the local store I bought from screwed me over. They just told me everything I wanted to hear and then turned it in as a two year. I've found out this has happened to others also. I'm just paying it now so they don't turn it in to a collection agency. Sprint Corporate acknowledged they believe me, but without the paperwork I've got nothing. This apparently has happened before. Now I'm just warning people away from this local(independent) shop.

Not only am I out the ETF, but I'm also out the $50 rebate that they said I wasn't eligible for when I bought the phone.

Keep your contracts everyone! I lost it over the course of moving 3 times.

When I got to the higher ups in Sprint in Overland Park KS they were more than willing to help if I were to just send them a fax of the copy I received from the store.

Did you do a BBB report? How about send a letter or call to your DA/AG office? Seems like something that someone might be interested in, no?

Thing is, how long do stores like those stick around. The BBB can help you with the business that sold it to you, but often times these types of business' don't stick around long enough to receive the reprisals they are due.

Exactly McGirk, when we first signed up we went to a store that sold other phones/plans besides Nextel. The OWNER told us that even though the phones werent going in my husbands name we would still get the govt employee discount. The phones had to go in my name due to credit problems but I personally didnt work at a job that was entitled to any price discounts. Hubby did. The owner told us once we were all set up just fax my husbands paycheck to Nextel and the discount would be put into the system and applied to our monthly bills. ha ha ha what fools we were! We believed him! and of course it wasnt in writing. He is now out of business.
Make sure you get everything in writing (this applies to cars and other purchases not just phones) as a lot of times people, even owners, will lie right to your face just to make a sale. And make copies keep one in the box your phone came in and one in your normal filing system.
