I've tried everything possible to add my music to my cellphone, i followed the instructions for using Disc2Phone and every time it says my phone isnt connected when it is by USB... is it because i dont have the memory card? if i get the Memory Stick Micro--will i finally be able to add music?
no. you should be able to directly copy files onto your phone - whether you do or do not have a memory stick.
re-install the drivers, they should have come on a cd with your phone. if you don't have that cd, go on the sony ericsson website and seach for your usb cable then it should give you an option to download the cable drivers.

right after u plugged in the cable, the phone will ask u wat mode u wana switch to. choose Transfer.

use the bluetooth if possible. its the best way to go

Yes, you HAVE to have a memory stick in the Sony Ericsson W580i before the software will recognize the phone. The drivers are downloaded with the software. Use the new Media Manager, NOT disk2phone. Do NOT have your phone plugged in while downloading software, and be sure to turn off your Windows firewall while downloading.

it might be b/c your memory card in your phone isn't pushed in far enough(ex. if you took out the card earlier and didnt push it back in properly. try opening the top where the memory card is located and inserting it again.
