Sprint's excessive charges should either drop or stop

Well, every company needs to earn their bread, and i respect that. But did you ever notice how sprint charges more money and for the most random things?
example - using tmobile, AT&T, and verizon - Mobile IM (or AIM) comes free on your phones - and an instant message counts as a text message. Sounds very fair

But for sprint - you must pay for data in addition to Mobile IM which are both an additional monthly fee! ($15.00 for data and like 2 or 3 dollars for the application of mobile IM) --- I find that ridiculous!

Also -- picture messaging! with tmobile, AT&T and verizon -- a picture message counts as a message that ranges from 0.15-0.25 CENTS per message without a plan.

With Sprint --- again the data charges come into play. you must pay for data to send a photo. which can, depending on the size, come out to 5 dollars! -- thats insane

And those examples are just the beginning. I can probably sit here for another hour explaining how Sprints data charges come into play in almost everything you do on your phone.

I mean, i like sprint's service and texting plan pricing. but it would be nice to not have to pay for a data plan to do simple tasks on my phone that would cost me slim to no fee on another carrier's phone, eh?

Your Way Wrong Man. For One, Sprint Data Plans Are The Cheapest On The Market, Which Would Include Picture Mail. Two All Other Carriers Charge Data Charges For Pic Mail Unless You Have A Plan With It Included. Three Aim Or Other Messengers Is Free With A Data Plan. ATT Charges Nearly 40 Dollars For Thier Data Plan While With Sprint It's Only 15.

From the research that I've done, I've found that most carriers are very close in the charges that they make, with variances here and there that tend to even out. Each carrier has people watching this sort of thing so that they can make sure this stays true. As for data, TMobile has just started making phones that are 3G capable, and At&t, while having the capability of 3G, has so little of it installed that you may as well not bother, expect to be using the EDGE system most of the time, which will get around dial up speeds. Verizon disables so many of the features on a phone, just for the sole purpose of making you pay for the same thing that you can get free on other carriers. The only reason I don't use Sprint now is because it's customer service leaves a little to be desired. Eventually that could get fixed, in which case, Sprint would become a desirable company to be with. All they have to do is get a little better and I'd have gone with them instead of Alltel.

Even So, TMo Coverage Is Yet To Be Desired. You Get What You Pay For. Personally, I Get 1000 Anytime Minutes, Shared On 2 Lines, And Both Lines Have Unlimited Internet, Unlimited Texting, Free Roaming, Nights And Weekends At 6PM, Pick 5, (Same As TMobile's My Fav's ) Free M2M, Which Includes Sprint, Nextel, Boost, And Virgin Mobile, Unlimited Video And Picture Mail, 15 Percent Loyalty Discount,Which Includes Everything That Hits The Bill, Phones, BT Headsets, Accessories, Anything You Can Order From Sprint.com Or Through TeleSales, All For 80 Bucks A Month, After Taxes. Let's See T Mobile Contend With That. Not To Mention You Don't See Much Data On TMo Cuz Thier Data Network Sucks, Sprint Has The Fastest Most Reliable Data Network In America, Along With The Most Coverage In America.

I just dropped my sprint plan after being a customer of 6 years. I've noticed recently that they started charging for AIM on your phone, $3.99/mo. It used to be free! And their ringtones used to not expire, and now they do, but of course they had to make them $1 more expensive!

I switched to Helio, they run on the Sprint network, yet I had some time to do comparing before I canceled Sprint. Sprint would be in roam, and Helio would have 5 bars. is that how they make their money? Drop your calls 10+ times a day, then charge you for going into roaming? It was a fairly new (6mo) phone, so it's not like that was the problem. I didn't have time to call them up every single day about the numerous dropped calls I was getting!

I had actually checked out Verizon before a friend told me about Helio, basically the plan I have with Helio would've cost me $90/mo with 50 less minutes and still not everything that my Helio plan includes! I didn't even check with Sprint, because they just plain suck! I pay $65/mo for 500min, unlimited text, video/picture upload/download, you can also put video/pictures in texts, GPS (buddy beacon/google), unlimited 3G internet (I can watch youtube on my phone), night/weekend, mobile to mobile. it's all unlimited! And if I want TV on my phone, I pay $5.99. sprint was like $17.99+/- if you wanted to subscribe to it all! If you refer someone you get an entire month of service free - limit 12 referrals. Sprint was $20 off and you couldn't do it all the time, they had weird rules for it, basically making it impossible to claim your referrals. Not that you'd want to refer anyone!

Sprint just found creative ways to screw up my bill on a monthly basis. Charge me twice for things, charge me for insurance when I never requested it, charge me for texts when it's part of my unlimited plan! I got sick of it! That and the dropped calls and poor service! I also bought my phone brand new to avoid being put into a 2 year contract, yet three months later when I went in to service it and had to pay $45 for a new phone, they added 2 years without telling me. So I had a nice surprise when it was time to cancel. As far as Sprint is concerned, "I moved". (to a new carrier!)

Sprint actually has the easiest referral program that I have ever seen, and it pays both, most companies only pay the referrer, and Sprint also has the 12 referral limit.

If you only payed $45 for a phone, they put you in a contract. As for dropped calls, some phones don't have the same antenna strength, and most of the ones with internal antennas require that you hold them a certain way for maximum signal strength, regardless of carrier. That and Sprint is one of the only companies to actually tell you when you're roaming, they don't charge you for roaming unless you spend more minutes roaming then not. Just because your phone says you are roaming does not mean you are paying for it, and just because your phone doesn't say you are roaming, doesn't mean that you are not.
