So I messed around with my phone a little more and searched through the engineering code *#0523#
Dial it in and hit pound two times. It'll start with a bunch of numbers and letters that flash on and off (being refreshed). Then once you've hit the pound key one more time, a whole set of menus will come up. You can dial the number for the menu item, or you can hit pound again and it will take you to the second page of the menu.
There are a LOT of options in there, but I can't find one that actually gives us what we're looking for.
1 Debug Screen
2 MM information
3 RR information
4 GSM Neighbour Cell
5 GPRS Information
6 SIM Information
7 Handover, Call log
8 Phone Control
9 Antenna Test (Setup/View)
Hit # again and you get the next page of menu:
1 Debug Screen
2 Version Information
3 RF Test
4 UMTS rf nv
5 Read gsm rf nv
6 Write gsm rf nv
7 Base Band
8 Audio
9 Common

So I found some great information on 'thesynchole' website.
*#0002*28346#
is the code to get into another version of the engineering menu.
Looks like it can reach the same default menu as the first code, but it is setup differently.
thesynchole is a messageboard purely for this phone, it's got a bunch of stuff on it. I'll post here again with more info as I come across it.

So hey u guys,
Just am dieing from the lack of Java support to install games & apps from the microSD card on my a737, and looked at the *0002 menu, and here is the layout.
**EDIT- I am running SW version A737UCGI3 or HW version REV1.2 **
When you first enter the code:
There is no loading files.
>If you want to load params,
>>Put files through TkExp.
Second screen, after pressing #:
[1] Load Params
[2] Dump Params

The Load Params screen ( after pressing 1):
There is no loading files.
>If you want to load params,
>>Put files through TkExp.
The Dump Params Screen ( after pressing 2):
A dumped file is
/RCV_Data_Load.txt.
>>> Dumping complete
The Call Config Screen ( after pressing 3):
[1] RCV Rx Call Vol[]
[2] RCV Rx Dtmf Vol[]
[3] RCV Codec Gain[]
[4] RCV NS-EC
[5] RCV Tx AGC[]
[6] RCV Rx AGC[]
[7] RCV Tx Filter[]
[8] RCV Rx Filter[]
The RCV Rx Call Vol[] Screen (after pressing 1):
RCV Call Volume, READ
0.[2] rx:-18.0dB
1.[4] rx:-15.0dB
2.[6] rx:-13.0dB
3.[8] rx:-12.0dB
4.[10] rx:-8.0dB
5.[12] rx:-5.0dB
6.[14] rx:-2.0dB
Input Ex : 123 -> 12.3dB
The RCV Rx Dtmf Vol[] Screen:
RCV DTMF Volume, READ

1.[4] rx:-22.0dB
2.[6] rx:-22.0dB
3.[8] rx:-22.0dB
4.[10] rx:-22.0dB
5.[12] rx:-22.0dB
6.[14] rx:-22.0dB
Input Ex : 123 -> 12.3dB
The RCV Codec Gain Screen:
RCV Codec Gain, READ
1.txVol: 5 dB(0X71cf)
2.dtmf_tx: -21 dB(0X600)
3.cod_tx: 5 dB(0X71cf)
4.cod_rx: 2 dB(0X5092)
5.cod_st: -33 dB(0X16e)
6.whisper_TxVol: 10dB
The RCV NS-EC Screen:
[1] EC Mode[]
[2] New EC Params
[3] New EC Params2
Once you press # from that, you get to a screen:
[1] RCV Config
[2] EAR Config
[3] SPK Config
[4] BTH Config
[5] Common Config
[6] YAMAHA
[7] Rebuild
[8] Loopback
Sorry if I didnt list enough menus, I just wanted to help with hacking the a737. If the values are different than what you see on your phone, it is because we have different settings, or different firmwares.
Thanks,
Aaron R
PS: This took alot of time, so please try and figure out what I need to list more info on. I can take out a few hours to help with this project, and it isn't going to take off on it's own.
BTW, keep on finding good codes, TheAdmiral!

there is 2 things that i have seen but have not done (im capable of this with the right tools but i do not have them). u can either:
A) somehow install a program on the phone that will let you run java (i have found none)
B) modify the settings which i see is trying to be done here
C) some how get the app into the phones "Games and Apps" directory
D) get a certificate into the phones folders (almost impossible)
A and C are the easyest, but B is a little nicer. the best way in my opinion is to some how get the app moved to the games and apps directory. in fact i just had an idea: creating an app that would let you add files to that directory.
[/list]

Great idea!
Someone with J2ME experience should make program like a web browser, that allowed access to the microSD without being online, tricking that phone to think you are downloading it and the phone puts that program in the Games and Apps directory.
Tell me what you think, but I do not have ANY programming experience AT ALL. i am just capable of punching in numbers and typing what I see.

im pretty sure i could get one of my freinds to to help us do that (hes made bluetooth hacks written in java formats already) , but anyways i'v also seen on someone elses phone that if you "debrand" the phone (aka takeing off all of cingular/at&ts locks and settings) you can run java apps in other folders (i.e memory cards ext.). the lock that at&thas set on the phone restricts the java capabilities in all of the phone EXEPT for the games and apps folder. so hopefully by debranding the phone it will take out that lock/restricktion.

if you do this i am not responsible for any damadges that may occor. be smart, but you can use this at your own risk. you have ben warned!
i just found this code on another site:
first turn off your phone, and take out the battery. now take out your sim and put the battery back into the phone and turn it on. when the screen says: "pease insert sim" type in this code:
#7465625*638*
turn off your phone and re-insert the sim.
i have not tested this because i just got my phone and do not want to kill it (and i have just went 6 months without a phone). so if some brave sole out there wants to try it that would make life alot easyer for many (hopefully). and if you do infact do this, pleeze put up a reply on what happens.
