I have the same phone, the Samsung SGH-A737
I've been searching for days and can't find a thing on it. I remember reading at some point that in order to get this phone to let us install, we have to unlock the Java first.
Why would they even do that?! I can't install games on my phone!
I want to call AT&T and ask them for help as to what I need to do, but I can't find the right number either (albeit, I haven't looked very hard for that yet, I hate talking to people on the phone, ironically).

I found this post on fixya, and it seems to get us somewhere. but I haven't figured out what it does yet.

Engineering code *#0523#
Be careful! Pressing # several times after entering the above code will lead you to a numbered menu, each option with numbered sub-options. No telling what these can do, but it is likely some combinations can turn your phone into a brick. Confirm will always take you out to the idle screen.

That's how you're going to end up unlocking the ability to install stuff on your phone. The mobile phone companies have programmed these codes into the phone so that their engineers can work on them.
Just from the default screen, dial that code in that I put in there. Start with the star, then pound, then 0523 and then pound. You'll notice a special menu comes up. Hit pound a couple of times and it'll bring you to another menu, which has sub menus.
We need someone who knows what those options all do so we can go from there.
Either that, or there's another code we enter in that will open up the java install ability.

Alright, got new information:
Quote:
Samsung have locked down the e900. You cannot use many functions such as vib and ring and cannot install games freely. The jar and the jad file are needed for an install. The jar contains the game data and the jad lets the phone know how to install the game. When you select jad on your phone it will come up with the install error of unsupported fiel format - they dont want to make it easy for you to install games.
Instead return to the main screen (where you would type in a phone number). type the following.
*#9998*5282# it will then give you a menu with three options you need to choose the third option (install midlet). Once done it will ask you for a password. You need to type 235282. The browse to the file you would like to install and click on its jad file. It will then install your game to the java world folder where your others ones are.
Of course, you may notice that the code he gave to get in the menu is wrong for our phone. However, this is a lead. he says its the third menu option on the list that allows us to install jad files. but we'll need a password in order to do so. The one he gives is different than others I've seen. Most seem to be 00000000.
Try it out and see.
