I am trying to install the rotateMe application on my N95 classic
the Accelerometer installs, but when the rotateMe application starts,
I get the message: Certificate error
Contact the application supplier
Can anyone help me here?

I think there's nothing much you can do except, well, contact the application creator.
You can try downloading and installing the app again, but I doubt that'll help much.

I'm just taking a guess at this, but did you (or anyone else) sign the application so it would work on your phone?
RotateMe, last I checked, was released unsigned meaning that you or someone else would have to sign it for your phone (your specific IMEI).
But if it is signed, then I have no idea. You could try finding that setting (which I believe is in Application Manager) that gives the option of allowing all programs or only signed ones, not sure if that makes a difference with something that an individual signed rather than a company.
