I never use any data services. In this area Sprint's coverage is worse than Tmobile, and Verizon's family plan is $10 monthly more, so that's why ATT.

I've been a loyal T-Mobile customer since 2004, but lately I've been wondering why.

There remains a dead spot not far from where I live, and it extends for miles. There is no T-Mobile coverage in the area. I know that there is ATT coverage there because it shows it on ATT's coverage map, and by borrowing a friend's phone to show the coverage.

For whatever reason, my T-Mobile phones won't roam. I've been through their support people, and have reset the phones, rebooted the phones, and even replaced the SIM cards to no effect.

I've been in touch with T-Mobile many times at this point, but they keep saying its the phones, despite the fact that I had them at the store last week with no problem, and they function otherwise normally where there is a T-Mobile tower.

I have two Motorola V195's on a monthly family plan.

Any thoughts? Isn't "free roaming" worthless if the phones won't actually roam? icon_cry.gif

What you may need to do. Since you are roaming. You phone can not update. What you may need to do is one of two things.

Go where you have tmoblie service. Call tmoblie have them do a total phone update or Go to a tmoblie store and see what they can do. The store in some area are booths at malls.

I've been to the store. They changed the SIM cards, and nothing has changed. I've also done the "total phone reset" which cleared my contacts, and that didn't change anything.

T-Mobile has admitted that my phone won't roam onto the ATT towers. I'm counting the months down on my contract, and will switch to a provider with better coverage.

It's frustrating because they want $200 per phone for an early termination fee to end the contract, even given the mediocre service.

Just in case you do not want a contract again.

Page plus Cellular uses verizon coverage and has good rates. Also, will be able roam on PCS/CDMA outside of verizon coverage area. Make sure your get a dual band or a tri mode phone.

I do not know how many minutes you use a month. I would recommend net10 or PagePlus. Check out Coverage maps.

Net 10 in most areas are GSM
PagePlus is CDMA/PCS depending on the phone.

Make sure you look at pagepluscellular website not pagepluswireless for coverage,

It's not us. We're not able to constantly guarantee service if AT&T refuses roaming in certain places, to the point where T-Mobile is unable to list ANY coverage because of this.

I hope t mobile usa eventually falls flat on thier face to be honest. any patriot would choose to use an american owned provider, which knocks out verizon and t mobile. sprint, nextel, alltel, and us cellular are the way to go. i didn't mention att because i feel thier entire corporation are crooks spanning from thier landline services to thier mobile services.

Now I think it's my turn to post topic "why does iowa blindy bash T-Mobile?"

see i'm not gonna buy something american owned just because it is american owned. it doesnt offer me service i need while T-mo usa does, so. it's all for people.

don't like it, don't buy it, leave us alone.

Don't knock it down. I could pay the $39.99 or more a month but why bother. When I only make very few calls. Pageplus has real good roaming rates and coverage. 59 cents a minute or less for roaming. Otherwise it 12 cents or less depending on the card you buy.

AT&T gophone (except in Indiana) has good coverage as well. Roaming is limited with the gophone (either plan).
