The camera sound is purposedly to be there all the time to prevent spy-cam action done by people. Therefore it will always be there.

Not if you add a silent .mmf file to the list of camera noises

what you are saying is corect.
i think that samsung will have to make some changes in departament of software.or maybe they want to put those options in future phones..so that they can sell them as this.the marketing departament is good then:))))
if you mail the they probably will say....but model x or buy model y... ...

Samsung has intentionally enabled the camera sound, disregarding the silent-mode in order to protect the privacy of other people who can be possible victims of spy-cam.
In Korea, all new camera phones must have this functionality; it is the domestic regulation of Korea. Samsung is not required to make phones this way for exporting in this way since the law is respected only in Korea. However, Samsung has done so.
I personally believes samsung has done the right thing; I don't want to see the picture of my ass on the web.
BTW, bluetooth and FM radio stuff are not something that can be added to phones by modifying and upgrading firmware.. Don, you know it!

1, open ur fone.
2, press: *#8999*8378#
3, press number 2 when the hidden menu pops up. (H/W test)
4, press 2 again on the next menu. (Audio Settings)
5, press 3 on the next menu. (Melody Main)
6, there should be a number @ the top left of the following screen (i think its a 6). change this to a '0'.
7, press save and the number should change. keep pressing save until you return to the menu screen. then close your fone.
8, go to the camera function and take a picture. if this doesnt resolve your problem then go back to the main screen of your phone ('desktop').
9, press the 'volume down' key on the left side of the fone until only the blue blocks are visible. try taking the picture again. any problems are due to inability to follow simple instruction. hope i have been of help.

Hello,
Just thought I'd stick my gripes in with the rest...
Fantastic as the e700 is, the lack of tone functionality, i.e changing alarm sounds, sms, and mms tones is very irritating, as is the lack of a snooze function on the alarm.
Any added functionality in these departments would complete the 'best phone so far' picture for me...
The camera sound disable is great though, thanks for that...
Any ideas on what the other bits in the hidden menu relate to and are they worth playing with, i.e. the various gain settings etc?
also anyone know of better software than easystudio, which would allow uploading of java apps?

I don't think anyone so far mentioned the fact that you can't make the phone ring and vibrate at the same time. I mean what were they thinking over there at Samsung? I haven't heard of a phone with a vibrate function, which doesn't let the phone ring and vibrate simultaneously. Maybe there are, I don't know. But I see it as something seriously overlooked.
I agree with everything that has been said so far in the thread.
Can anyone see anything realistically happening to try and improve the firmware of the E700?
