I haven't heard of a phone with a vibrate function, which doesn't let the phone ring and vibrate simultaneously. Maybe there are, I don't know. But I see it as something seriously overlooked.
I agree with everything that has been said so far in the thread.
Can anyone see anything realistically happening to try and improve the firmware of the E700? |
Try using PSMPlayer v5 to make MMF files that you can upload to your phone using EasyStudio (assuming you have a USB infrared adapter). With PSMPlayer you can add a vibrate feature to 1 of the sound channels eg. flute...so whenever a flute is played in the melody...ur phone vibrates...pretty cool. (You won't need to set the "vibrate then melody" option in your phone...just set it to "melody"...and the phone will still vibrate when the vibraphone channel is played.). Hope that helps.
Now for the gripes...I have to say the phone is great, but not much thought has gone into providing an intuitive and effective interface. I am quite disappointed with the firmware for the E700. The E700 looks the best out of all the phones I've owned (none of which were Samsungs), but it's the most lacking in features of the lot. I agree with all the "lack of feature list" mentioned earlier plus one more: the crappy dictionary that comes with the T9 message input method. I don't know if it's the same dictionary for all E700 internationally, but why have a T9 message input method when I practically have to "spell" every 2nd or 3rd word? My old Nokia had a much more comprehensive dictionary.
Well, I just sent them an email outlining my thoughts about the wishlist and maybe a firmware update. Just gotta wait and see what happens.

Doesn't your T9 dictionary learn?
Maybe its just within my firmware version (E78ZCWI2)
but after i have to spell a word, its stored in the dictionary.
Also, the more I use that word, the less amount of times i have to hit
* to cycle through the words.

It learns, but that's the problem - I have to teach it so much compared to other phones I have owned.

Yeah, it would be great if someone smart (not like me ) could fix firmwares. At least make them better....
