In general, firmware is any software that is embedded in ROM (Read Only Memory).
In this forum, firmware simply represents the operating system of your mobile phone, and this is stored in the EEPROM.

I don't have experience with the firmware loading, but if you want to load into E700, try Januka from Samsung.
I think that you can load the firmware with this software.

If you want to modify firmware you should get http://javer.sgh.ru/download/ResMan.rar this program is in russian language but some one told me that there is english version of this program somewhere on internet so if you want it you will find it this program contains patches for firmwares of samsung phones
