Forgive me if this is a repeat of a thread elsewhere, I looked for about 10 minutes and didn't find an answer in a few forums.
I have cingular(now ATT) prepaid phone. My friend got a new Tmobile phone so gave me his old Sidekick ID. I put my sim card into his phone and when it turns on it wants a password.
Is this what it means for a phone to be "locked"? If so how do I just one regular person unlock it. And if this does not mean it is locked, where do I get this password for it at?
Also, if the phone is locked, but still works fine otherwise, how can I still unlock it to access internet like I have with my prepaid cingular phone? I called 611 on my Cingular phone and they said as long as takes the same kind of sim card(which is does) it should all be good, just put the sim card in and I am good to go.
Also, if everything works fine, but I saw in one thread that perhaps the net won't work because it is configured to another networks settings, how can I change the settings and/or find out what cingulars would be?
Thank you in advance for any and all help

its looking for a subsidy unlock code. that code would be provided by the original carrier. contact your friend and have her/him get the unlock code from Tmobile
