I wished I lived in a country where I had the right to own firearms. I have the right to own shotguns and rifles, but not assault rifles or handguns. I can own a handgun, but it is not a right, it is a privilege, and I can't even get the privilege to own assault rifles. That makes it awfully difficult to get ahold of certain H&K products, unless I want to illegally attain them, which is not something I intend to do. I can see not having the right to own highly radioactive material, it's harmful all by itself, but a gun is only harmful if the person holding it is not educated enough or if they have harmful intentions.

Guns are a way of protecting ourselves from our government, or worse, invading armies. that's why china would never dare invade the states, especially down south. our civilians pack more heat than most militaries, and i like that.

An armed society is a polite one. The wild wild west was not as wild as movies made it seem. When everyone has a gun, everyone is nice to each other. You are near as rude to someone who is packing, on the off chance that you are talking to someone who flies off the handle easy. Honestly, it was safer then we have it now. There was a neat quote from the LotR movies, those who do not wield a sword can still be killed with one. Just because you believe there is no place in society for a gun, doesn't mean some corner thug will agree with you, in fact, must thugs prefer to prey on people who are less able to defend themselves.

That's why the number of breakins while the owners are present have increased since the ban in the UK, Canada, and Australia. Essentially it's better then doubled in the countries that recently restricted gun ownership.

Wonderful, but just the chance that you own one will keep you safer. Then again to say that you don't like guns would be like saying you don't like hammers. Don't have a problem with the tool, have a problem with the person that misuses them.
