With Sprint you don't get charged roaming . . . unless you use more minutes roaming then not roaming, in which case you will be charged retroactively for every roaming minute used during that month. Does Sprint work good in it's roaming areas? Yes, but if you live in a roaming area don't cancel your home phone.

Well i can tell you one thing. With my phone, (sanyo katana II), i have been in a grey area and still have received sprint converage. Since the area marker on your map has some green (sprint coverage) kinda close to you, you may be able to still receive sprint signal sometimes depending on your phone.
As for the roaming, you should also check verizon's coverage. Im sure in pensylvania you would be roaming on verizons's network, not altell's
Either Way It's All Good. we can also roam on us cellular's network

People for some reason don't seem to think Alltel can cover much more then a stamp, but I have to tell you, Alltel without roaming partners covers more of America then anyone else. They aren't licensed to sell to as many customers because they don't go after large cities, but their rural coverage is second to none. At any rate, if you aren't using your phone in the gray much, then just get a Sprint phone, you have 30 days to try it out, if it sucks, take it back. Get a Sanyo though, those have better coverage.

So. my dad read this topic and decided to get Sprint for himself as he's tired of lack of GSM coverage in the area. so he got sprint. and what a suprise - with T-Mobile we get more coverage than with Sprint. at my house Sprint didn't work at all and on our way to Atglen which is near town in gray area, there was no coverage until we reached Atglen. our GSM phones detected ATT and T-Mobile while SPrin t didn't work.
