I have a t-mobile family contract which i thought was expiring in aug of 2007 but it turns out that it expired on august of 2006. So I have been with them for two years without a contract icon_sad.gif , I recently found that out when i visited an authorized dealer. The dealer told me that i could upgrade now and extend the contract for two years but he was not very clear on it. He did say for example the w490 would require a $50 even with the upgrade.

So right now my questions are
1) will i still be able to keep my 49.99 family plan even though they do not offer it anymore, can i extend the 49.99 plan for two years?

2) would I be able to get some better deals since I was not under contract for about 2 years already.

3) Will I be able to upgrade all of the phones under the family plan, they are all under the same plan and the contract expired about 2 years ago.

4) I will also need to add a 5th line to the plan, will I be able to still keep the 49.99 basic plan with +30 for the three additional lines, or will I need to sign up for a new plan. I want to keep the 49.99 because we only use around 250 minutes a month. I have also saw somewhere on t-mobile saying that If i add a new line, then the new line will get a free phone with a 2 year contract, so how would all of that fit in with the upgrades of the other phones?

5) I did look on the t-mobile upgrade site but it is very unclear as to how many phones I can upgrade, i did see that the samsung phones are free currently for this month, but i need a music phone and the samsung ones which are currently free had mediocre reviews on its music capabilities. Should I wait until next month to see if other phones will become free? Does t-mobile usually have different free phones for the next month? or is the samsung free phone deal the best?

Thank you for taking the time to read this long post icon_biggrin.gif

you can upgrade all lines. Tmobile's promotions vary from time to time, so its hard to say what is going to be free next month.

As for your plan, you may run into some issues when you try to upgrade since it is now grandfathered, but I think you will be able to keep it. The main issue being you want to add a line, which is not a problem, but because your plan is grandfathered, it the computers may not allow it. Your best bet is to call customer care, see what they say and then go to your authorized dealer if you want to get all the phones from a store. Lots of times, dealers/stores and CS say two different things, but CS almost always is correct.

When you upgrade, if the plan you are on is no longer in the system, you will not be able to keep it (this include text messaging plans too) I worked for T-mobile and had a lot of customers upset.

I myself refuse to upgrade my pone for this reason. I already know my plan will be higher if I upgrade. You can upgrade all the lines at that time. However the new line can be added to the plan but it will be considered a new plan. Which is good because new phone lines get better deals on phones.

I've told people before that if they don't need the new line to have a new phone but someone else on the plan wants a new phone, Give the new line person the old phone and keep the new phone for another member in the house. Just switch Sim cards.

u can upgrade all ur lines depending on what the promo's are in the store, there are also $18 upgrade fee's per line u upgrade. now because u have a grandfathered plan, which im guess is $49.99 500 shared min, unl n/w and m2m. its still in our systems i've changed it for couple people already, but a rep might have to call Care to get it added, but dont worry u can still add that 5th line, i suggest do it all at once, upgrade and add a line so all ur lines end at the same time
