"find another way to converse with them"

This is a pretty presumptuous response in thinking that other options for communicating with my family are more convenient, easier, or worth sacrificing for call quality. Why shouldn't everyone be able to have texting and call quality?

Texting is how europeans keep in touch. It's not convenient to run to a computer to send an email and wait for a response. Being able to text to someone's handheld and get an immediate response is the latest technology and I don't see why more providers don't step up to make better offers.

Iowa, your response is laughable. I paid to get out of my Sprint contract because there were zero bars at my house and my parents. Zero. Verizon gets me a strong and clear signal in my basement. T-mobile and AT+T are the only 2 that can text internationally to the countries I need. T-mobile is the only provider that has wifi calling. Once they get a couple of new wifi phones, I'll be switching.

I just think it's stupid that with all the technology we have going on here in the states, we can be so far behind on the text messaging aspect of cell phones.

That is why texting packages have gotten cheaper and better, but pay per use has gone higher - because of demand. When demand goes up (which is not the same thing like supply and demand), prices for ppu will go up, and package rates will go down.

Lol. It's not my fault you don't know how to configure your phone to roam properly. every provider has dead spots, it's just a fact. sprint's roaming agreements with verizon mean any where there is a verizon signal, a sprint phone can use that signal. same goes for us cellular, alltel, and a handful of other smaller companies. as for wifi phones sprint has something better coming out in just a few weeks, that works similiar to wifi but is compatible with every sprint phone ever made. and haven't you ever heard of aim, yahoo or msn? or if they're phones are so much more advanced than ours then they should have email push on thier phones. it works just like a text message, only you send it to an e mail address instead of a phone number. but it's still instant contact.

So typing in the extra ten or so characters is too much for you? come on--- and i see why they object to text pricing. i was on the att site just now and they charge thirty dollars for unlimited text. what a rip off. and their data plans are through the roof. jesus. with att you even get charged if you want detailed billing. and you can get 7pm nights and weekends with att. the catch? the charge for this service is 17 bucks a month. another rip off. and i compared an equal plan to mine with att, without my discounts, and the same exact plan, att charges over 50 dollars more per month. that's just insane. att is still nickel and dimeing people to death. no suprise there. oh, and one other thing, when i matched up plans, that doesn't include my pick 5 for both lines, because att doesn't offer it. and if they did, i'm willing to bet they would charge at least fifteen dollars a month per line for that service. so for me to have my same exact plan that i have with sprint with att, it would cost me close to double what it costs me now. no thanks.

so I gather that you have a family plan. the items you described are 30.00 for family messaging. single line is 20 bux as with the early evenings 16.99 for family. 8.99 for a single line.

bear in mind you have retentention features that the "normal customer will not have

to have a valid comparitor. a 450 a month plan with early evenings.data and messaging unlimited

att

39.99 +8.99 + 35.00 media max (unl msg unl data on non pda phone)
450 min ul MtM 5000 N&W with rollover
83.98 + tax

sprint

69.99
450 peak unl mtm unl N&W NO rollover all the rest the same

a 14.33 difference. not 50.00

at least compare apples to apples.

Actually I did, in another post. the difference came out to a sixty dollar difference for a brand new customer. and that's not including pda tethering, which i get for free as another perk, but even for new customers, sprint charges 40 dollars per month versus att's tethering plan which costs 60 per month. the brand new customer comparison is in the att forum and titled "How Much does att charge you for customer service."And tthe69.99 plan through sprint is 700 min, not 450. and early night and weekends with att is 17.99 whether you have 1 line or 5 lines.

Your looking at a plan that has unlimited texting and mms already bundled and group connect, Nextel Only Feature. if you go to the bottom of that very same page, you'll see the power pack plans.

you are selecting bits and pieses of data and using out of context and basically trolling. I would advise you strongly to stop or there will be consequences. you discussion is Sprint - centric. this is an ATT forum.if you wish to discuss Sprint . go to the sprint forum. I would suggest STRONGLY the you cease and desist NOW
