Why do American cell phone companies charge so much for texting?
Paying for incoming and outgoing? That's silly. I have to pay twice to send my wife a text.
-In network texting should be free. $0.15 each is ridiculous. If anything the networks should promote texting to save them on calling bandwidth. I often call my wife instead of texting her because it is free. 3 minutes of airtime has to cost at+t more resources than what it would take to send 4 messages.
-Family plans should be able to share from a pool of text messages instead of each line requiring me to buy a block of 400 or 500. We are never going to use more than that.
-I like the idea of the new unlimited messaging options, but for $30 on a family plan, like for at+t, it would be still be cheaper for me to buy individual text packages.

Companies make you pay for individual messages in the hopes that you will order a text messaging plan which makes them more money, even though I don't agree with it, it does make em money.

I don't understand why AT+T and T-Mobile are the only 2 providers that we can text to my wife's family in Sweden and Finland.
Sprint's, Verizon's, and Cincinnati Bell's texts all failed to go thru. It appears that Verizon only has an agreement with one Swedish provider, which is the same as Cincinnati Bell's and neither can text to Finland.
How lame. This is a definite deal breaker for us. Verizon's coverage is so much better, but doesn't meet our needs.

Manator that's funny.
iowa, the answer to every question is not Sprint, and you don't help to sell Sprint by telling them what cool features they CAN'T have, but about the cool features they CAN have. Sprint's PowerPack Family plan has a shared unlimted text plan for $20 a month.
Being able to make phone calls when you car breaks down in the boonies is way more important then being able to text someone in Europe, go for the better coverage, and find another way to converse with them.
