I was under the impression that they were either just going to straight out sell to a carrier or write up a roaming agreement for it to AT&T or T-Mo, but I haven't heard anything solid yet. AT&T now considers Dobson Cellular coverage native to AT&T while VZW still treats Unicel as a separate company.
My .02 to the OP; I think people bash Sprint Nextel blindly b/c of the reputation the company has gained for itself (this includes CS, billing, fraud, etc. issues). That is something that can take years to workout; similar to loosing someone's trust, it takes years to build it back.

I Agree. the purchase of nextel threw sprint off axis big time. they couldn't focus on cs as everyone wanted interoperation between ready link and nextel ptt. among other integration issues.

They wanted it, some were promised it, and it was never going to happen. Besides, ReadyLink customers peaked at about 300,000. That is not exactly a big focus of Sprints.

I was a ready link user lol. and there were alot of sprint customers who were holding off on getting ready link until nextel and ready link were compatible.

Let's be honest, Readylink as a product really sucked, just as Alltel's Touch 2 Talk, and Verizon's and At&t's walkie-talkie programs. If it isn't close to instant, it's just not really worth it.

Once you connected ready link was ok. the voice quality was better than nextel. or that could have just been my sanyo's speaker. hehe.
