I've been trying to research this, but I don't see anything here.
I got a Motorola cell phone almost two years ago. I ran out of room on my sims card and continued to store numbers to the phone. Tonight, my phone just went straight dead- I didn't do anything to the phone at all- I've only dropped it maybe twice in the entire time I had it, and it's been so long since the last time I dropped it, I can't remember when that was! I tried to call AT&T, but they had no solution (of course) except to come in and buy a new phone. I am a bit desperate- I don't even have my mom's phone number memorized! All of them are on my phone!
Can anyone help at all?
Thanks-
Kbrown

We more details.
What model is your phone?
Does the keyboard backlight come on?
Have you tried plugging in the charger? If so, what happens? Does the keyboard backlight come on.

Could be something as simple as the hinge flex port/connector on your main board being dirty. Clean with a fibre glass pen and/or a toothbrush with alcohol. Sometimes a flex and LCD will work with on board but not another board even if it is known to be good. Bent and/or dirty contacts are a common cause.
Sounds like main board filters have failed or need reflowing. They are clustered around the hingeflex port. A job for a solder tech with a reflow gun and a magnifying glass!

Hi!
I am not sure of the model of my phone. From looking at discontinued phones in the forum, I believe it is the Motorola V5551.
The keyboard backlight does come on.
The phone is fully charged- the backlight only comes on for the keyboard. The screen is completely black.
I removed the battery, and there was no change in the screen when I reinserted and turned it back on.
I removed the battery and sims card, and there was no change in the screen when I reinserted and turned it back on.
I can make and receive phone calls with no problems.
I know how to get to some functions by memory- so I checked to see if I can use the menu. the menu is still active.
I just have a black screen.
Thanks!

LCD has failed (most likley) though hinge flex can cause same problem
