I'm thinking of getting a Verizon wifi phone such as an XV6700 from ebay just to use it as a pda to access hotspots for email, accessing my own home network to download podcasts, etc. I do this currently with a Dell Axim pda. I would not have a contract with the phone, but might in the long run--who knows. It's not clear to me that the phone will do this without activation and a data plan. Anyone else doing this or have any feedback for me? Thanks.

Good question. I would also like to know if this is possible.

I posed the same question at howardforums and have received a few good responses. Can't leave the link here, but search for posts by haryo .
