My son had a sidekick id that has given us trouble from the start, bad service, dropped call, no service. called it in many times. finally went in to tmobile, got a new battery, new sim card. all good for 2 weeks. screen goes dead. go back in, they verify that it is defective, check dot for water damage (phone is still under warranty and I have extended warranty). i get a new phone, send old one back and this month get a charge of $100.

call and fight with them. get a $25 "courtesy" credit. will not issue any more. is it possible for a phone to have water damage inside and not have the indicator dot turn red? it was completely white.

thinking of having credit card company dispute charge. has this happened to anyone? any class actions pending?

Phones have internal indicators that are checked, the techs in manufacturer repair centers don't even pay attention to the external one. It's possible it got water damage from sweating, condensation if you take it in the bathroom or shower. It doesn't have to be submerged necessarily to get water in it.

so do you think it is a complete waste of time to try and dispute this thru my credit card company?

I thought there was no way that the indicator dot could remain white and still have damage inside.

If you try to dispute it, the charge back will be on your bill, and T-Mobile will not let you use that credit card any more. And yes, the indicator can be white and still have the red indicator inside of the phone as the dot is only a small external indicator. It could be RED, but if the techs look in the phone and find no water damage, then no charge - sadly that is not what happened here. Sorry this did happen, but phones are very sensitive to all types of moisture exposure as well.

That's why i loved my sanyo 8300. That thing was a tank. it's been thrown across the room, thrown in a pool, been in a lake, stepped on, and more, and it just kept working.

You wont believe what I went through. Most of all, the outcome of it all.

YOU GOT TO ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU HAVE WATER DAMAGE. IT WORKED FOR ME. HERE MY EXPERIENCE.

I must have done the dumbest thing out of all those who've had accidentals w/ their iphones in water. I put my iphone in the laundry's washing machine. I swear I wanted to break the damn glass, while it tumbled and the suds filled the machine. That had to be the longest painful mins. (20-30) But I knew I couldnt resort to attempting to turn it on.

My bro once dropped his Nokia into a pond. He opened it and left it drying for days until he put it back together and it worked.

I knew I had to wait days until my attempt. I looked into opening it up but it looked too complicated. So during the past heatwave I left it in front of my A/C so that it could dry off completely. Of course I took out the sim card to let it dry too and have more entries open to have it dry off best.

Every day= Morning b4 work, Afternoon and Bedtime I would look at it in despair and suck out all the possible water or humidity I could only think of what was still in there. Trying to suck out through all its openings. As I tasted its detergent filled self, hey it smelled cleaned too. lol Wasn't funny at the time.

Finally after a week, I turned it on. Nothing! I charged it. Ok it's going. ITS WORKING. Checked all it functions. Headphones, Speakers, Made Calls, Vibration Alerts, E-mail, Text the entire alphabet to make sure all letters worked, check the web, snapped pics. EVERYTHING WORKS! I was truly awwed, dumbfounded. In the clouds.

Im Telling You its like nothing happend to it. Im on my second day w/ it since I turned it on and I was worried about the battery life but no, Works fine Too. Battery life is the same as b4.

The Screen was a bit darker and looked like it had a blotch stain of water at the middle background but I could deal w/ it not horribly noticeable either. And now the blotch is even getting smaller. I really think even the screen is going back to what it once looked like just maybe grads darker than b4.

YOU GOT TO ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU HAVE WATER DAMAGE. IT WORKED FOR ME.

You can get anything your way if you work customer service right. You have to be firm, and tell them what they are going to do, not ask them. Playing nice will get you no where

really? I work in customer service and if someone tells me how to do my job, they won't get what they want, go ahead and ask my supervisor, they have my back 100%, if I say it goes, it does, within reason of course, if I say it don't fly, believe me, doesn't matter who you go to, its not going to fly, so go ahead and demand what you want, have fun with it

I totally agree companies are to have customer service. Being a supversior my self I have my reps back and I do listen to the customer. But the reps are empowered to help the customer. Telling us how to do our job is not the way to get you anything. Being rude, cussing us out and being firm and telling us what we are going to do. The old adeage the customer is always right does not fly anymore. People need to get a reality check can you call your electric company and demand credits I don't think so especially for no good reason such as the economy is hard. Get a clue
