I found a Motorola W490 and I have At&t service. Will my SIM card work in this phone and me keep my number? Is it legal to unlock a found phone to work on any network also? Thanks

Only two carriers in the US use SIM cards, being T-Mobile and Cingular (now AT&T). And yes to both.
