I happene to open my phone with an indirect dealers in California (the kind that sell service from all source of carier like att, and verizon.etc). After I opened and signed everything I realized that was a big problem with the contract. On the T-mobile paper the contract said I have within 14 days for cancellation without any penalty, but on dealer paper they said I will be charged a large sum of money(even more than t-mobile's penalty) and even charge me for the sim card if I cancel anything within 180 days. Can the dealer still charge me money if I cancel my lines within the 14 day period?
by the way the 2 congtract are signed on two separate pages.

california rules are different from most states here, but the general rule is yes. some dealers are giving you a very good price on a phone and to do this they use part of the commission they get to lower the cost of the phone. if you return within your 14 day period you will be fine. anything outside that and you will also have to pay the dealer since they have lost their commission from t-mobile.

In california the Buyers Remorse is 30 Days not 14 Days. All Dealer and Carriers must follow this and no the Dealer cannot charge you for canceling you service with in the first 30 Days.

iowa, I never thought we would agree on anything, and then you said something smart about wireless dealers.

thats what i hate about indirect dealers they r so shady having a contract attach to the t-mobile contract. but they can do it. i've had to deal with alot of customers cause shady indirects told them totally wrong info and get them screwed on a 2 yr contract

The cold hard fact is, a dealer can say whatever he wants to woo his prey, but it's only what's written on the paper you sign that matters.
