I have been a Nextel customer for a few years now. Last year I signed up for the family text messaging plan. I have been having a huge problem with the texting ever since. I am only aware of it on my phone as the other person doesnt text much. I get some texts right away, some within 60 mins, some hours later and some never. I have been calling sprint all these months about this problem and it's still not fixed. They have done numerous master resets, on my old phone and the new i335 they sent me about 3 weeks ago, and refreshes too. Still having the problem. I have asked to be let out of my contract, expires in August, as they are taking my money for a service I pay for, need, and want that isnt being provided for in a proper manner. Everytime I call I am transferred to various depts, either tech support, web support (think thats the proper name) and tech tier 1 and 2 support. Again just to be told we will do this, that, look into it, GET BACK TO YOU, "nobody called you back mam cause the problem hasnt been fixed" this after waiting 3 weeks for a phone call, etc. When I call and explain the problem and how long it's been going on for and how I want out of my contract since it obviously cant be fixed I am told I'm sorry I have to transfer you to the next level as I cant fix it here. Understood, but I have given up on the problem being fixed, I just want out at this point. And my contract exprires before the other line does. So if they do allow me out can they make me keep the other line with them since (as far as I am aware of since they dont text much) there isnt a problem with the other line?
Does anyone here have any advice on how to get out of my contract without having to pay ETF since there is such a big ongoing unfixable problem? I have been calm and polite explaining the problem month after month after month. I am really loosing my patience though. And last week when I called and was transferred to 2 levels up the tech told me "oh theres a problem in Syracuse" I informed him Syracuse is 3 hours away from me and NY City is less then 2. "well maybe the outage in Syracuse is the reason for your problem?" I did loose it a bit then as I had to say to him "For 8 MONTHS?! Syracuse has had an outage for 8 months and thats why a text message sent to me at 10 am by my daughter (different provider) gets to me at 4pm?!? Did you listen to anything I said to you? Cause if you did you wouldnt be saying this to me!" I then said I think it would be best if I hung up and called back the next day when I was calmed down.
I apologize for the length of this. I just want to make sure I didnt leave anything out so if anyone can help they will have all the necessary information. I am not trying to get out of anything illegaly. I just need to have the service I am paying for work correctly. I use my text messaging every day. So this is starting to bring out the worst in me! icon_devil.gif
Sincerely,
Momma

I'm sorry, you've got me stumped on that one. Occasionally I think all networks will lose a text, or it's delayed so much it may as well have been lost, but if it is a common thing with you, it obviously is more then the just the occasional glitch. If you don't use the walkie-talkie feature, you may try to get ahold of the Sanyo Pro 700, as this doesn't work on Nextel's IDen system at all, but the two way may not work for a year. The phone however is considered a Nextel, so it shouldn't require any kind of plan change. This is all guestimates however, because my company has no intention of carrying the phone until the two way is working on it.

thanks but I use the direct connect every day.
I am upset because there is obviously a problem here and they have had 8 months to try to fix it but cant. so why not do the right thing and let me go? Would they rather I keep calling on almost a daily basis and complain again and again? Taking up the time of numerous tech's who in the end cant help me? Explaining the story over and over again? Trust me its not a 1 min phone call when I call.

I'm sorry what does cdma mean? Is that one of thier newer (i think its ic902 or 502?) phones? If thats what cdma means they told me those dont work in my area.

Oh and I realize now that since they sent me the new phone, the one they thought would fix my text problem, I'm now having calls drop which I never had with the old phone. A representative told me today that he new phone, i335, doesnt have enough power so maybe thats why I'm getting dropped calls! So now not only do I have a texting problem but now I have a new problem thanks to the phone they gave me to fix problem #1 with. Which it didnt fix of course. And I already gave my old phone away. Anyone have an email address for someone that could really help me out with all of this? I just want to be let out of my contract. They cant fix it and now have made it worse. At the expense of sounding like a 5 yr old, it's just not fair!

I'm sorry to hear what your going through. and sadly, the qchat phones have been pushed back until june first. i don't understand why, the sanyo pro 200 seemed to work perfectly. oh well. as for texting issues let me do some research for you and maybe i can help you solve your problem. and on a side note, and this just speculation myself and others have come up with, is i think an evdo data agreement is brewing among verizon, sprint, and alltel, as i know for sure verizon is coming up with thier own ptt, and i think alltel may use qchat leased from sprint. remember that is just speculation. that being said, i do think that's the smart way to go.

The QChat phones do work in Chicago and a few select small markets, but a nationwide rollout will not be made for about a year. On a side note, I sure would not have taken the Pro 200 over the Pro 700. On another side, the Hybrid ic model phones that Over35mom had before had a fundamental flaw in them, the phone used Sprints roaming network frequency for the walkie-talkie, so it wouldn't work in anywhere near the areas that the newer QChat models will work in. Then again, if a Sprint phone won't work there, neither will the QChat, and there are areas in the US where Sprint doesn't work and Nextel does.

LOL I really am old! Because you might as well all be talking greek to me with this evdo and qchat talk! I just want to get texts and make calls that dont drop. Once my contract is up I will go w/Verizon as thats who my eldest daughter has and she has no problem. If I cant get out of my contract due to all the problems I will be w/them and my problems for about 2 more months and my husband till the end of august. maybe by then this qchat thing will be around us. We live in NY, about an hour and a half upstate from NY City. If he leaves Nextel too he will still have to get a boost because of his job. They all use Nextel there.
