Actually it just got confirmed from someone i know who works for sprint, the official national qchat rollout is supposed to be june 15th of this year. the two sanyo pro models have already launched in denver and nashville, and the ptt is reported to work just fine. the delay is rumored due to sprint wanting all the new qchat phones to hit the shelves at once.

is there somewhere on here that can tell me what q-chat is? I think I read that by 2012 nextels ptt will be eliminated and only q-chat is available. If my husband has to have PTT for his job then he might not have to have nextel once ptt is gone. might as well know what q-chat so when I tell him about this I dont sound like an idiot.

What you read is true for now, but you know big companies, they can change thier minds faster than the weather in the midwest.

Tell me about it, I fall asleep with the window open, hoping for a cool breeze, wake up in the morning with the furnace running.
And iowa, what I am telling you is not a rumor I heard from the cousin of a friend of a third party dealer. I am telling you what not only I have heard from my Sprint Rep, but what other dealers have heard from their Sprint Reps, and Sprint Reps do work for Sprint last I checked. The phones will be released, the service will not. Is it possible that my reps are stupid, or just being lied too, it certainly is, but it's more likely lied too, because I have heard the same thing from three different Sprint IAR's because the company I work for has three different IAR's. I would love for QChat to be released in June, it makes absolutely no sense for the phones to be released when they don't work, but from several Sprint Representatives, and I don't mean Sprint Direct Dealers, I mean the Reps that tell the Dealers what the hell is going on. If that many Reps are being lied too, I am not certain that I am interested in selling that product anymore, because any of the information I get could be false at any given time. If Sprint wanted all the phones to hit the shelf at once, they certainly wouldn't have any issue doing it, since they are the ones in charge of release dates.

Well i did some research, and engadget also believes they will be rolled out it june. it makes sense to roll them out as early as possible to beat out verizon's competing brewchat.

The phones are coming yes, I never argued with that, neither did my Sprint reps, but they said it won't work for a year. You can release the phones all you want, without the service, who cares?

I Heard it will work wherever they have rev a rolled out, which is why i believe they are pursueing a data roaming agreement with verizon and alltel.

Yeah, Rev A is not widely released, but in the area I am in, it is, yet still we have been told that we won't get it for a year.
