Sanyo wasn't struggling, i guess they just wanted out of the cell phone game. kyocera bought sanyo's cell phone division.

The wireless division of Sanyo was losing money, so they decided to divest themselves of it, and Kyocera was in desparate need of acquiring a quality wireless division, seeing as how there stuff does not rate favorably next to solo cups and a piece of string. I'm not certain Kyocera can raise the bar, they don't have that know how, but it they left the bar where it is at that would be okay.

Sanyo wasn't losing money, they just weren't making enough to justify continuing on. and kyrocera can raise the bar if they wish. it's not like sanyo made any hardcore innovations. they just put in high quality parts.

The reports I read said the wireless part was losing money. Their first merge attempt was with Nokia, and I wish they had, but it fell apart at the last second. I believe that the sale was completed sometime in the last 8 months.
Funny thing is, the only thing Sanyo built right was their cell phones, everything else that they make is bottom of the heap, low grade junk.

i still doubt they were losing money, just not as high of a profit margin as the other stuff. so why bother.
