Hasn't anyone noticed that since the stock market tumbled and the speculators are laying low, the price has dropped dramatically? That's a big part of the run-up. And speaking of the "greedy" oil companies, look up the figures on the profit margins of producing gas (NOT the figures that the media spouts as profits, but the MARGIN.that means how much they sold vs how much they made), then look at what the speculators are making from simply playing games based on what they think the market will do.
THEN tell me who's the greedy ones. The same ones that are betting on the market going down. Upstanding bunch o' folks, don'tcha think?
Here in MS, gas is hovering around $2.00/gallon.

You, know, Geri O, I think I have to agree with you. But, I'd almost expected the gas prices and prices of other things in general, to go up.I mean, inflation is at record prices, we have an insane amount of money hungry business execs and yet, gas prices go down when the economy started taking it's downhill slide.
Weird.

I paid $1.75 per gallon. Filled up my Nissan Altima's gas tank with just over $23! It makes Randa happy.

most of the gas stations around town have it priced at $1.67, but a few, Walmart included (grumbles) have it almost a dime cheaper.
!
So, I buy my gas at Casey's. It's one of the cheapest gas prices in town, AND their premium (higher octane number) is the same price as their regular. While everyone else in town usually charges 20 cents more for premium.
