It has always been my understanding that with cell phones, only your number and "wireless caller" shows up on caller ID. That has been my experience until recently.
When I call the church where I work from my cell phone, my full name and number show up in the caller ID! My phone number is not programmed in the phone system, so I can't explain this! When I call most folks, the regular "wireless caller" comes up.
It doesn't upset me, but I'm wondering whats going on. Could any CSRs weigh in on this?
Peace,
Jacob

It doesn't really matter to me - I've always thought caller ID is a great thing for screening my own calls, so why not for others? Ultimately, what I'm wondering is if cell phones will someday (soon?) be able to have a caller id that also displays the name of callers.
But for now, its just a matter of curiosity.
Peace,
Jacob

you can have that setting changed. basiocally if the person you are calling has you in their phone book what they have in their phonebook is going to display on their phone. if you want your name to display. call customer care and have it changed

it depends on what landline provider you call. at@t sends the info but it's up the other party to display. from what I understand it costs for the company to show the name and most goes the cheap way and show wireless caller and phone number.
