Yeah, I plan on getting this phone in-store since I can't sign the new contract myself. I am still on my parent's cell phone plan, so they gotta be there. 14 days should be plenty of time for me to get a cheap usb data cable off ebay and try to get my own ringtones onto the phone and whatnot. The MotoRokr (slider) is my backup in case the LG doesn't work out for me.

I've heard a good response about the ROKR.

Well, I have the LG and like it so far. Bit difficult to use at first coming from the Motorola e815 that had normal buttons
Like others have pointed out, I still don't like the ringer that gradually increases in volume. Sometimes its annoying, sometimes its not.
One thing Id like to know: I am getting the USB cable monday, so once I hook my phone up to my computer, am I going to be able to transfer songs to the phone's memory? Is the LG capable of using Mp3s as ringtones?

That's something I never tried to do with my LG, I already had ringtones that a downloaded to the external memory card which I used. I'm not certain how much built in memory you have on the phone, you'll probably have to get an external memory card if you have not already.

According to the phone, I have a total of roughly 37MB of multimedia storage, of which I have roughly 32MB free. Thats plenty of space for me to load my ringtones which total only like 15MB (I made them myself and are only 30 sec clips). According to DHL's site, I should have the USB cable monday. Hopefully things will just work

okay so i have an LG Glimmer as well and i was curious to know if you have had any success with putting and using custom ringers on your phone?
I know i still haven't found a way to get custom ringers to work, i have to buy all of mine.

The latest software update partially fixes the ringer problem. It still starts out low volume, but increases volume more quickly. You can update the s/w from the phone via Settings>Phone Information>Software Update>Check for Updates. As for custom ringtones, search youtube for Glimmer and find the 2-part video. I tried it, and it works for both the Glimmer and the Scoop.
