I might be moving soon to an area that doesn't provide a broadband internet connection, however, the reception out there for a phone is excellent because it is next to the interstate. Would it be wise to go with these wireless providers for internet service? Which one do you prefer?
I have been trying to find reviews, but I think it is still something new that many people don't want to give a try. I kind of shrieked when I saw 5GB limit but I"m sure I won't get that kind of data in 1 month. I am a gamer and I need a good ping and a good latency. I know that on sattelite internet connections there is a delay due to the satellite connecting to the satellite in space and back to get and receive data. Is it the same way with these providers?
So far, I'm kind of leaning towards the Sprint EvDO (or whatever it is) because if you get the high end plan there is no limit and also I have read reviews that they have the best speeds out of them all.
My 2nd option would either be AT&T or Verizon, but I'm just not really sure.
Can someone help me with this information? Is this just as good as having a DSL/Cable modem? (minus the reliability issue) Does the connection drop a lot? (Stability is a plus!) Can I play games with this sort of connection? Is there lag/delays?
Thanks, I really appreciate it!

I've never gamed on a wireless network, but my sales location uses a wireless network for my internet connection. If you have EVDO capable in the area then it should be in the neighborhood of a slow DSL. Connection seems to be fairly stable, I've been using it for over a year. If the signal is weak, it may switch back and forth between EVDO and 1xrt data, which would cause a disconnection breifly during the switch. If the signal is strong that should not be an issue. And if you are a gamer, 5gb might not take as long as you might think to exceed. My connection is Sprint, at this point in time their data is second to none, but check the area. www.sprint.com/coverage then type in the address and scroll down a little to check the data options, because phone and data do not necessarily work in the same areas. If you are not in a built up area I wouldn't consider going with At&t at this time, their data network is not deployed in near the areas that Sprint, Alltel, or Verizon are.

Did you ever try some protocols such as Skype/Ventrilo/Teamspeak (VoIP)?

Internet gamers use Skype, TS and Vent, so it would be important, but I have never used those on my work computer, they frown on extracurricular activities where I work.

Ahh. Thank you guys. I think I will go with Sprint, they have the unlimited deal and seem to cover the broadest area for the same price I think. ^^ I appreciate it!

Sprint is in major trouble financially and has a HORRIBLE data network. despite the recent REV-A upgrade.
