As I wrote: it's not possible at the moment due to the IP issue.

I get the same message, but after this bluetooth directly connects fine, I don't know why, but I can live with it.
For the LAN... You normaly have to do nothing, I connected my 3650 normaly to my computer and used the configuration and it worked without any trouble.

Hi,
Have you managed to sort this out yet?
This guy seems to have an answer:
http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/mraento/symbian/bt-ap.html
I haven't tried it yet. If anyone knows of another way, please let me know.
Jamil.

Does anybody tried the above mentioned solution?
I am interested on connecting my Nokia 6600 to the internet without making any call. I have my laptop with IR and HP iPAQ 5550 via Bluetooth, both with an Internet connection.
Regards.

| jimpston wrote: | Hi,
I'm having problems setting this up. I am using a WIDCOMM bluetooth dongle which succesfully pairs and allows FTP no problem. The problems start when I try and use my ADSL connection (via my PC). I have followed all the steps you describe above to the letter, but I've noticed there are some small differences between the 3650 software and the 6600 stuff. In the settings you mention a Gateway IP Address. This does not appear in the same place as all the previous items, instead there is a homepage option which is set to "None".
There are advanced options which include:
Phone IP address: Automatic
Primary name server: 0.0.0.0
Secondary name server: 0.0.0.0
Proxy serv. address: None
Proxy port number: 0
Does the 6600 require a PC-ADSL GPRS connection to be running a proxy server?
I'm also not too sure what you mean by "Enable LAN on the PC", could you elaborate please. I have a bluetooth network connection which always has a red "x" through it. I've been trying to set this up all day!!
Cheers,
Jimpston |

Regarding the quote below (not surfing the internet on the phone from the computer over bluetooth); it doesn't work for me for this reason:
The Nokia 3650 Bluetooth Network Adapter's DHCP is not working; it has an IP of 169.x.x.x and is sending data but not recieving any. I typed the computer name correctly (without the dot at the end and with, neither worked). The pairing of the phone with mRouter went well. Any advice so I can start surfing on my phone. Is it possible to manually type the IP of the 169.x.x.x into the phone somewhere, like the default gateway / DNS?
| abhishta wrote: | Yes u can. Works with ir. So it will work with Bluetooth.
Here's wat u do::
Under Tools, in settings, goto connection settings, select access points. Then New access point and Use default settings.
Connection Name: Any.
Data bearer: GPRS
Access point name: Find out ur comp's FULL COMPUTER NAME by right-click My Computer, Properties. Enter that name.
Username:None
Prompt password: No
Password: not reqd.
Authentication:Normal
Gateway IP Address: NO CHANGES
Once u r done, exit .
Pair phone with pc.(Make sure MRouter recognises the phone)
Enable LAN on the pc.
Start any Browser like Doris or Opera(preferred).
Select the current settings that u made, and surf.
Make sure the GPRS is set to : "When needed". |
