Okay, my mom and uncle have been having problems with their phones (motorola razr and motorola rizr) for the last few months. Most of the time, the rizr shows searching for a signal and someone else in the same room, with same service (tmobile) will have a full signal. The razr started out with sounding like a fax machine when you tried to call. Sometimes it would do it once and other times it would do it all day. So, I (not thinking about the connection) purchased a motorola razr2. Well, I am now having problems as well. The signal problem doesn't do the same 'searching' problem but I will sometimes go all day with no calls and then 10 voice mails will come in and come to find out people had been calling all day trying to get in touch with me. I am figuring that this problem is somehow with these motorola phones but my big questions is first has anyone ever hear of or had these problems with motorola or any other phones or similar? Second, what can I do to rectify the problem? I don't know if it is reception problems? interference problems? or what. So, ANY help on where to begin will be greatly appreciated as I just paid a nice chunk of change for this phone. Thanks in advance, Brandy

By any chance are you using t-zones or any other type of data on your phone?

On my phone the razr2 I do use tzones and text messaging and sometimes I check my email from the main menu instead of the web.

that explains the voicemails then. there are times when data is in use that voice services (a phone call for example) can not interrupt the data signal. this is a problem for at least all gsm carriers. if imagine cdma systems may also experience the same problems.

that's odd because I have never had that problem or any of the problems I have experienced with any other phone that I have used. I also own a sidekick lx and nokia n95. So, I don't understand what is causing this. Is it reception (signal) or what?

its the days connection that causes it. I've seen it happen on every phone I have owned. when the phone is transferring data in a certain mode, it does not allow the phone to accept a voice signal which causes all calls to go to voicemail

oh okay. I see. Maybe it just takes longer for my Motorola to send and/or receive data information. That makes a little more sense to me. Thanks for all your help. At least now I can understand it instead of just being frustrated. Have a great day, Brandy
