V3 razr. accepts jpgs OK. but strips wav attachments. only 7kB.
any hints?

that would entail buying the Moto phonetools.
homey ain't spendin money on a workaround for something that oughtta work.

well then there is probably no way to do it. you phone isn't a smart phone so its going to have limitations on email which includes attachment size limits.

Untrue. I have e-mailed myself ringtones I have created using audacity to my old V3 and they've worked just fine. You can unrestrict size limitations. my typical ringtone is about a 120kb mp3. Just e-mail the ringtone as an attachment to <phone number> at mycingular dot com. Of course, now that at&t has owned up to their ownership, the address is likely different.
This is my first post, so please forgive the "spelling out" of the address.

this is the t-mobile forum so your email address example will not work. also, each carrier may have custom settings in place for how the phone handles email.
