This is a nasty situation. A year ago I transfered from my individual plan to my ex-bf's family plan. Now I we just broke up and I want to get rid of this phone. However, the contract for this phone is not over yet. If I cancel the phone, who will pay the ETF? My ex-bf (account owner) or me? Thank you very much.

if the account is in his name you can't make any changes to the account, including cancelations. if you do, he could take legal action against you, even if you know his personal info and passwords. my advice is simply to give the phone back to him and forget about it.

as it stands right now him (the account holder) is responsible. however if you access his account using his information without his knowledge or permission. I forsee lawsuits pending in your horoscope (Judge Judy airs these all the time)
if you want to keep the number it must be txferred back into your name.
just a heads up. this could lead to a sticky situation.personally I would do the honourable thing and take resposibility and have the number txferred back to your name or pay the etf or just give him back the phone.

in your situation, just giving him the phone back / paying the early fee would probably be your best bet.
and hahaha judge judy, some of the lawsuits you see on there are ridiculous!
