So a few months ago we moved into our new house.
Well, we have had AT&T (Cingular) for 4 years now and have been very pleased.
But, to our disappointment, we are getting terrible service at our new address.
So, we switched to Verizon and are getting excellent service (have only had them for 1 day).
We called AT&T and told them that we would have to cancel because we can't get service. We're currently battling the ETF (early termination fee).
AT&T says that our address on their map shows good service. Well, I don't care what the map says, we get terrible service. 2 bars at the most (drops to 1 bar when we're on the phone). and the calls are always in and out, or they disconnect after a few minutes.
AT&T said to try a new sim card, so we're going thru their hoops so that we can continue to tell them that it doesn't work.
Any ideas or hints?

I doesn't state anywhere in your contract that they waive ETFs for no service at an address, they just do it sometimes as a courtosey.and normally when they do it they do it for NO service and I mean absolutly NO service

My understanding is that if it shows service on their map, you will get service if you are outside. They won't waive the ETF if you live in a bomb shelter and don't get service as they are still providing service to your area. (I am in the same situation that reception sucks in my house. Static, dropped calls, garbled conversations is something we have been dealing wth for 2+ years. The rep actually told me to get a bluetooth device and leave my phone outside. haha)

honestly, AT&T (cingular) is notorious for in and out, static, and dropped calls at 1-2 bars.
and i know how you feel because i used to have them. and although you are battling the EFT , its fortunate that you chose to go with verizon because as far as i know, it doesnt happen with them (the in and out, static, etc) as easy as it does with AT&T. Sprint is also another carrier that you can have 1 bar with and here perfectly. thats why i have them
