My girlfriend currently has a Sony Ericsson W710i that she loves and she's very upset because it's started to die. I am wanting to buy a replacement for her birthday but the W710i appears to be discontinued. She doesn't use the fitness features but she listens to music and usually texts rather than calls. Because of where she works she can sometimes be away from a mains socket for a few days so good battery life is essential. The W710 is fine in terms of battery life.
Can anyone recommend a suitable alternative to the W710i? Some criteria I'd like it to meet are as follows:
- Flip-phone/clam-shell (but willing to consider slider or swivels - not a candybar)
- Sony Ericsson
- SIM-Free or capable of being unlocked
- English and Spanish menus and T9 - SPANISH IS ESSENTIAL!
- Good battery life (equal to W710i or better)
- Decent keypad for texting
Price doesn't matter (within reason) but the above must be met. Ideally I'd like to have same or better specification as the W710i (minus the fitness features) if possible.
I will be buying it in England, so I don't think it will come with Spanish menus or dictionary. So I need a phone onto which I can reflash the firmware (e.g. Wotanserver) with this language. This is probably the most important thing.
Thanks[/b]

you can just buy a phone [basically any sony ericsson] and hook it up with a data cable and reflash the firmware. as long as it's not older than s710a. you can go with w300i or you can go on ebay and get a w710i.
to meet your criteria:
flipfone/clam-shell - just go on the sony ericsson website and then click the phone type and you'll have the few flip phones that SE makes.
SE - same as above, go on SE website
what does sim free mean? all sony ericsson phones use sim cards. and they are all capable of being unlocked.
as mentioned abouve english and spanish is a simple reflashing of firmware.
battery life - all the new SEs have very good battery life
decent keypad? what does this mean?
