I want to buy my mom an iPhone retail. BUT I don't want to renew her contract or anything else. (I know how to get around the activation process; done it b4.)
How much will it cost if I do buy it retail from an AT&T store or the Apple Store?
Thanks!

It will be hard to get a solid answer to that question for the time being. Apple has suspended the sale of the current version of the iPhone in anticipation of an updated (and 3G, we hear and hope) iPhone rumored to be coming out or at least announced on June 9th. They were $299.00 for the 8gig model the last time I looked. There may be some left at the AT&T stores. Good luck with whatever your plan is to get one without renewing the contract.

Rumours exist that after the initial launch there may be a full-retail price that can be paid to get the device non-contract, but it will be around $600 to $700 I think.
