Hi all
I plan to go to NYC and around this summer. I will bring my non-sim-locked european quadband Sony Ericsson W810i Handset along with me and would like to run it with a prepaid sim-card in the US.
I just bought today an unactivated at&t prepaid-sim (go phone, pay as you go) on ebay, which i plan to activate/charge with $ upon arrival in USA.
Is this going to work hasslefree for voice?
What about at&t's new unlimited data option for prepaid plans (unlimited media net for $ 19.90/month). Would this be a reasonable option to bring me online using my phone's (GPRS/EDGE) built in browser as well as opera mini and pop-email client?
If anyone knows: how do i obtain at&t's settings for internet-access once i activated unlimited media net calling customer care?
btw: as we europeans are not used to pay when being called by someone: if i just use data, there will be no further cost than the monthly 19.90, will there?
would be very glad to get some info's on this.thanks!
mich

go with the pay as you go .10/min plan minimal cost
to do what you need to do buy a 25.00 airtime card. that will cover the cost of the data feature and give you a little airtime to use if needed. if you need more just buy smaller chunks at 15.00
ok - thanks so far. i hope i will soon receive that sim from ebay and then hopefully activation will be easy (i guess it's there where you choose between -.10/min plus $1/day or -.25/min).
another thing: how do i charge the thing buying recharge-vouchers:
-in which shops can you get them (NYC/JFK)?
-what denominations (5, 10, 15 $.?) are usually available?
-any reason to use other recharge methods (eg. credit card) than these vouchers?
thanks!

you can buy 15.00 25.00 50.00 and 100.00 cards ... you can also make a pmt with a credit card over the phone... where you have an out of country card that could pose a problem... buy a card... the recharge instructions are on the card... you can get them just about everywhere... just make sure they are ATT pay as you go...
