Have you tried a usb to serial adapter? other than tring to change the comp or phone settings? I am guessing the screen is broken and you can't see the numbers you need to recover.

The keypad is broken and need to recover numbers. is the adapter another piece of hardware or is it just software?

Hardware. It's an adapter that converts the cable usb end to a serial end, thus letting you plug it into the computers serial port as the phone/program is looking for. good luck, with that keypad broken, I'm guessing you can't change the connection settings to usb. I don't know if your hooking up through a usb hub, sometimes this causes devices to be undiscoverable. plug in directly to the computer's usb if your not already.

does Easy Studio give you the option to change to :usb" connection? I'm sure you tried, but it was worth a mention. I'm guessing it would be under "settings" "connections" "options" or something like that. Sounds like the program settings need to be changed though. I'm sure there's a "help" button or file that came with it. It should tell you there where to change connection settings. I'll look into it more also.

I found the intallation guide. I don't know if this is the one you are referring to or not. I don't kknow if you have this or not either. anyway, hope it helps. It's in PDF form if you want tot save a copy to your comp. This site won't let me post the link yet. Do a google search for "easy studio guide. It should be the first one on the list.
Maybe uninstall and reinstall the software?

Hello, normally I'm the guy to help the others fix their gadgets but my old Samsung SGH-E800 won't connect to the PIMS Soft. The screen was slowly going funny (upside-down, pink, shadowed, white-blank, etc.) when opening/closing. But few weeks ago, it died totally. I have changed the ribbon with maximum care and it didn't help, tried another ribbon, still the same.
Would any owner of this old phone navigate me (like blind person) which sequence of buttons to press, to setup the connection, providing the phone is switched on and all the data(phonebook, SMS) loaded? I always used my USB cable (it has COM/USB converter) but I did it about 3 years ago the last time. Also, I do not remember whether to stick it in with the yellow arrow pointing up or with the SAM X600 pointing up(reversed)?
Thanks to anybody who can help!
Regards, Jay

Samsung cables plug into the phones with the yallow arrow facing the same direction the screen faces. if you see the screen, you should see the yellow arrow when plugging in the cable.
