Is there a way for one to update their sprint phone --

like for verizon you call like *228 or something and they update your phone with the latest coverage .

so im wondering if theres some way to do that with sprint.

Not that I know of, but they have recently began over the air programming, and I would expect something of that nature to be coming soon.

Actually it's Alltel's *228 method, but Verizon liked it so much they bought it from them. Come to think of it, they liked Alltel so much, they bought Alltel too.

Essentially this post is the answer to the other post. I thought I'd read something like this before.

what is the IVR? I proceeded to take your advice upon updating my phone and i said "PRL update" and the machine then wanted to take me to a representative, and i then hung up, not wanting to speak with one.

The IVR is the voice prompt that gives you instruction when you dial *2.If it leads you to a representative, just tell them you want to have a PRL update. The rep should not drop your call. If that happens then you might gotten a rep that has a hell of a day. Sorry, but there are really reps that are dropping phone calls. Your request for a PRL update would only take 2-3mins the most coz the rep will just update your phone in the system. That's all.
