Has anyone successfully gotten T-Mobile to waive their $18 upgrade fee? I thought I'd ask here first before waiting on hold for a long time just to find out they wont do it.
Thanks!

From what I was told. If you upgrade your phone during the promotion of "No Activation Fee", it should be waived at the time of purchase.

Does the promo apply in store too? I haven't seen my local store advertise that promo recently.

Update for those wondering:
I called T-Mobile customer service and asked to have the fee waived, after putting me on hold for about a minute (presumably pretending to ask someone for authorization) he told me they could not waive the fee. The next day I went to a local store, and was told the same thing. So the following day I ordered it from the website. They showed on checkout that I was paying for the phone, tax, and upgrade fee with free shipping. The next day I got a confirmation text message from them. The total they showed was exactly $18 less than the website said. So, either they do waive the fee when ordering online, or my phone call actually did some good. I guess we'll never know!

Thanks![/quote] I did by asking regular cust.service rep. to transfer me to the customer loyality representative. This dept. can do a lot of things. I would not pay the fee and the rep. waived it and lowered the upgrade price on the phone I wanted.

This $18 fee is new since my last two year contract began in Sep 2006. I just learned of this fee last week while beginning to shop for an upgrade.
I was not keen on paying this fee and mentioned this to the store employee. He suggested calling Customer Service and voicing my disatisfaction with this new fee.
I did this and will have the fee waived.
P.S. It probably helps me alot that I have been with T-mobile for 9 years.

I was able to get upgrade fee waived. However, when calling I asked the representative to connect me directly with a manager or supervisor. I had the same phone for 3 1/2 years and wanted to upgrade to a new phone without the upgrade fee. I simply quoted ATT's policy
" At this time, AT&T Mobility allows these customers to upgrade with no upgrade fee when they commit to a new 2-year contract:
* AT&T customers who have had 24 months of cell phone service since activation of their cell phone or since their last phone upgrade."
I asked them to match this policy since it had been over 24 months months since last phone upgrade. The manager did not hesitate in waiving the upgrade fee for me and was extremely helpful.
