Hey everyone. I've got a question that I need answered. I have a W580i that I've had for several months and love. I would like to be able to use it to connect my laptop to the internet via the USB cable when I'm out and about at work. I know that I can do it because I"ve accidentally done it twice and begged Cingular to clear the charges for me. (which they did) My question is this. Cingular tells me that I can sign up for a "tethering" plan which is $60 month. They offer a "Media Net unlimited" feature where I can add unlimited web browsing on my phone for $15/month. Would they be able to tell the difference between media net browsing and my usb connection browsing? I am not about to pay $60/month for browsing, but I could certainly see paying $15. Browsing via my USB cable right now runs 1.9 cents per kb. That rings up quickly. My linux laptop accidentally connected via cingular when I was attempting to charge my phone and I was watching two youtube videos. 34MB and $370 later, I was begging cingular to clear the charges. Thank you, in advance for whatever help you can give.

I haven't tried it myself but I have heard of people connecting to the internet on their phone with their pc (or laptop) isp network.
I have also know people to say cingular ain't really smart enough to realize what your doing cause they've been doing it for years. If you do a search "connecting phone to internet via usb" you may get more answers, just don't go on my opinion alone though.
