So, about a year ago I did an early upgrade to a samsung alias. Everything was fine, until April, when the charging port randomly decided to stop working. I brought it back to verizon, they inspected it, and replaced my phone with a refurbished one. In July, the same thing started happening with the new refurbished one, so I brought it backsince I was covered under the 90 day policy, and they replaced it. Then, not even a full day of having the new phone, the phone started to randomly shut off in the middle of phone calls, text messages, etc. I just brought it back again today, and they are sending me yet another refurbished phone.
I'm not elligible for an upgrade until April, but it's just so frustrating that I've been with verizon for well over 6 years, and they keep giving me the same phone that I'm having the same problems with. I really don't understand why they will not move my every new 2 date (yes, it is possible, I sell cell phones and have had customers who have had their upgrade dates moved up) since I've been having so many problems with this phone. they have offered me a "1 year upgrade" aka about $50 off retail price, but I prefer buying from my store than the verizon corporate.
There has been no water damage to the phone or the battery, and the phones have never been abused. I've had the battery checked at verizon, and the battery is not the problem. My boyfriend's alias has just started doing the randomly shutting off thing, but he's lucky and is almost elligible for an upgrade.
I'm just getting so frustrated with verizon! Has anyone else experienced any problems like this before?

Yes, you may need to just continue to replace your device and after a few replacements in a short duration of time then request a new device. You won't have the option of picking your new phone if they make the offer, though. Also, that 1-year price for a phone is $100 off full retail after you send the rebate out, the rebate comes with one-year purchase discounts. Another option is to buy a phone off e-bay, but be sure to acquire the serial number from the phone first so you can call customer service and ensure it isn't a stolen device.

It's a lot easier to just buy cell phones at where i work because we don't make customers do the rebate, it's instant savings But I decided to just switch to ATT, go on the employee plan through them and then just minimize the family plan i have, and then cancel once my contracts up. It comes out to be cheaper anyway.

I have an Alias too. I've had my phone replaced 4 times. The first time, everything was fine except that the phone rebooted every once in awhile. Most times after completing something (i.e.: closing the browser, sending a text message, etc.) but it got worse, so I traded it in.
Second Alias would charge (although the screen and battery icon wouldn't do anything) but I could never tell when it was done and the battery life was crap. Traded it in.
Third Alias couldn't access my microSD card. Traded it in.
Now I'm on my fourth Alias in about 7-8 months and this one has a problem with VZ Navigator. It can access the program and look up addresses, but after about a minute, the GPS cuts out and doesn't come back. So it's about as useful as printed out Mapquest directions. I filed a trouble ticket with Verizon and they're half-assed trying to help me, but more or less, it's dead.
I'm planning on getting a new phone, possibly an EnV2 or a Voyager at full retail price as soon as I can afford it.
I think it might have something to do with the wiring and everything in the Alias all fitting into that one hinge. It wouldn't suprise me that it would break easily.

I got the alias with my every 2 upgrade. I have gone through 3 of them, almost 1 a month. I never through or dropped them nor have never been near water. They would restart by themselves, and resently deleting my text messages. Since I went through 2 warranty replacemens, Verizon offered me either another Alias or the Env2. I was sketchy about getting another Alias, and I have heard that there was problems with the env2, but I went with the Env2. So far so good. I didnt want to load all my stuff onto another Alias, just to change and delete everything out with in a month or two.
All the people I know that have the Alias have had nothing but problems with the phone shutting off. I was very tempted to tell a customer at the Verizon store to return the Alias he just bought and share what has happened to me and my friends. Maybe I should have.
