Hi, everyone. I'm a brand new at&t customer - I was a cell phone virgin until yesterday!
And today I have already received two "spam" text messages.
I really resent having to pay for someone to send me unsolicited advertisements. My friends/family will not be sending me text messages ( I've already threatened them), so I'm wondering if there's any way to simply block the messages altogether. Or at the very least to, perhaps, block those coming from a number that isn't in my address book?
Also, both messages told me to reply "stop" to unsubscribe, but we all know what kind of a mistake that is with e-mail spam. Does anyone know if it will work in this situation?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me.

you can call into customer care and request the text block to be added to your account this is a no cost block and will prevent anyone from sending you a text or you sending one

As an added note to what the Cpt said, there are third parties out there and if you went on the net on your phone and signed up for something unbenounced to you, be sure to check your next bill for direct bill download communications. You may have inadvertenantly signed up for a subscription of somekind and will get billed every month for it. In that case, when you recieve a text message, hit reply and type in CANCEL or STOP.
