I just bought the Dare and so far I'm very pleased with it's features. One feature I can't seem to find is setting the mp3 (or similar) ringtone with a contact or a contact group. Am I missing something or can it just not be done on the Dare.

When you are in your contact list and you select a contact, then press the edit button while viewing the details and scroll down to ringtone. That would be to set one of the ringtones on your device to a contact ID, not an mp3. I hope this works, if it's the way I think it is the menu should be the one with the contact details (2nd number, home number, email, etc.).

yeah that's how to do it, but i was wondering if it was possible to add an mp3 as a ringtone for a specific contact. without having to buy it from verizon.

to do that you need a microSD card or you can use the program Bitpim to transfer music onto your phone. Or send the ringtone to your phone from your email as an attachment and your phone will get the ringtones if the size isn't too big. then save the ringtone as a ringtone or sound.
